Meet who is behind the creation of Diario AFA!

Lucilla Davila is an accomplished Latina educator originally from San Juan Puerto Rico. She has been a trailblazer in K-12 bilingual education and has created nationally recognized bilingual and Spanish Immersion programs. Lucilla created the Alma Flor Ada Early Learning Spanish Immersion Academy in Woodbury, Minnesota. Enrolling over 100 students ranging from 2 to 6 years old bringing them a culturally relevant language experience. Opened in 2020 during the pandemic, the school has quickly become a recognized and vibrant part of the community.

Her current endeavor, Diario AFA is a WEBNC business providing a culturally enriched alternative to the demand for authentic Spanish immersion language materials. Recognizing that the current educational materials lack diverse and creative representations, our materials embed diverse Latino Culture with STEM providing students with a rich, engaging, fun and interactive learning experience. “Real Culture, Real Learning” from the comfort of our homes!
